The varicella zoster virus occurs in humans and comprises of two separate viruses.
- The VZV varicella (chicken pox). Chicken pox occurs mostly during childhood phases and characterized as small blisters.
Children or adults with this condition may complain of headaches or head pains, lethargy or tiredness, increase temperature and weak muscles.
- The Zoster (shingles) virus appears as a red, inflamed and scaling rash on the skin. Stressful events occurring in ones life such as the death of a loved one or physical illness may trigger the shingles virus which lays dormant in the ganglia of the central nervous system.
